Rites Of Passage Talk With Linda Ballard
Linda Ballard (ex Curator at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum) will give an interesting talk on our theme of Rites of Passage. The event will be free and all are welcome. Linda would also encourage you to bring along relevant objects and photographs to enable you to tell you story and explore other, plus we all just like to look at something pretty!
Linda Ballard is a specialist in the study of local traditional ways of life. She has conducted extensive research on rites of passage, especially in relation to birth,marriage and death, and has published widely on these subjects. She worked for many years as as a curator at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, before recently changing direction and taking up the study of theology. She is alicentiate minister of the Non Subscribing Presbyterian Church of Ireland ansis currently reading for a PhD in ecclesiastical history.
